The cardiac electrophysiology and pacing unit is a highly specialized branch of cardiology, dedicated to diagnosing and treating heart rhythm disorders. It integrates advanced diagnostic tools, interventional procedures, and device therapy to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
Scope of the Unit
The Unit provides comprehensive care for patients with arrhythmias, including supraventricular and ventricular tachycardias, atrial fibrillation, conduction disorders, and sudden cardiac arrest prevention.
Electrophysiology Studies & Ablation: Mapping and ablation of arrhythmias using conventional and advanced 3D mapping systems.
Cardiac Pacing & Device Implantation: Pacemakers, Lead extraction, Leadless pacemakers, Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICDs), Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT).
Arrhythmia Clinic: Remote monitoring, device interrogation, long-term management of patients with arrhythmias and cardiac implantable devices.
What we treat
Adult Cath (Adults – Heart & Vascular Procedures)
We help adults who have problems with their heart arteries, heart valves, or blood vessels in the body. Conditions include:
- Fast heartbeats (such as atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, and ventricular tachycardia).
- Slow heartbeats that may require a pacemaker.
- Irregular heart rhythms (skipped or extra beats that make the heart feel like it’s racing or fluttering).
- Conduction blocks – when the electrical signals in the heart don’t travel properly.
- Sudden cardiac arrest risk – using special devices (ICDs) to prevent life-threatening rhythms.
- Heart failure rhythm problems – treated with special pacemakers (CRT devices) that improve heart function.
- Complications from old devices – including infections or wires (leads) that need to be removed.
- Long-term arrhythmia management – regular monitoring and follow-up for patients with heart rhythm devices.
