The Adult Medical Unit provides comprehensive, non-surgical care for adults with a wide range of gastrointestinal, hepatic, and pancreatic conditions. The unit focuses on advanced diagnostics, evidence-based medical management, and long-term disease monitoring, including inflammatory bowel disease, functional disorders, and complex nutritional needs, ensuring personalized treatment plans and coordinated multidisciplinary care.


Scope of the Unit

This unit delivers in-depth assessment and non-operative management for adults with disorders of the digestive system, liver, and pancreas. Services encompass the care of chronic inflammatory and immune-related conditions, functional and motility disorders, and long-term nutritional challenges, supported by advanced testing, individualized therapy plans, and coordinated follow-up across multiple specialties.

  • Hereditary, congenital, autoimmune, and malignant disorders (e.g., Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, GI tumors).
  • Gut dysmotility syndromes and rare GI disorders.
  • Gallbladder and pancreatic conditions: gallstones, cholecystitis, obstructive jaundice, pancreatitis, pancreatic cysts, pancreatic cancer.
  • Esophageal and gastric diseases: GERD, dysphagia, strictures, peptic ulcer disease, gastritis, H. pylori infection, non-variceal upper GI bleeding.
